Steel, aluminium and nylon: guide to machinable materials

Choosing the right material is as important as the machining process itself. At MASA Mecanizados we work with steel, aluminium and nylon, adapting cutting strategies to each one.

Steel F-114 (C45K)

Carbon steel ideal for shafts, gears and parts under high mechanical stress. It requires heat control during machining to maintain tolerances.

Aluminium 6082 and 7075

6082 (Anticorodal) stands out for its good machinability and corrosion resistance. 7075 (Ergal) offers higher mechanical strength, ideal for aerospace and motorsport applications.

Nylon 6 (PA6)

Technical polymer with excellent impact resistance. Its main challenge is thermal stability: deformations during cutting must be minimized.
